Frequently Asked Questions
The Caffeine Experience (TCE) is a Singapore social enterprise, founded in 2017, that runs specialty coffee cafés and The TCE Academy barista training programme for people restarting life from the margins. Here are the questions we're asked most often.
What is The Caffeine Experience?
TCE is a Singapore social enterprise that hand-roasts specialty coffee and runs cafés and barista training for marginalised individuals — people rebuilding their lives after incarceration, addiction, and hardship. Every cup helps fund that work. Our tagline says it best: Brewing the Aroma of 2nd Chances.
Where are your cafés?
Our café is at the URA Centre, 45 Maxwell Road, Singapore. We also operate mobile barista carts at events, with new locations on the way.
How do I buy your coffee?
Order online through our shop. Beans come in two sizes: Retail 100g for home brewing, and Wholesale 1kg (minimum 6kg per bean) for cafés, offices, churches and partners.
What coffees do you offer?
Single origins — Brazil Cerrado, Colombia Gesha Estate, Ethiopian Sidamo, Halo Berity Yirgacheffe G1, and PNG Mt Otto — plus our two house blends, Cornerstone and Crossroads. Browse them all in our Coffee collection.
Are your beans freshly roasted?
Yes. We hand-roast in small batches at our Star Vista roastery, so your coffee reaches you fresh. Beans are sold whole to preserve flavour — if you'd like them ground for a specific brew method, just leave a note with your order.
Do you offer wholesale for cafés and offices?
Yes. Our wholesale programme supplies our specialty roasts from 1kg bags (minimum 6kg per bean type). It's a simple way for cafés, offices and churches to serve great coffee while supporting our mission. See the Wholesale collection or send us an enquiry.
Can I hire a barista cart for my event?
Absolutely. Our mobile barista cart serves espresso, cold brew, speciality tea and more, crafted on-site by two trained baristas — from S$800. Every booking funds barista training for our beneficiaries.
Do you offer barista training?
Yes — through The TCE Academy (TCA), we train beneficiaries in barista craft, soft skills and spiritual formation as they rebuild their lives. Marginality is not destiny.
Are donations to TCE tax-deductible?
TCE is a social enterprise, not a registered IPC charity in Singapore, so donations are not currently tax-deductible. That said, every gift goes directly toward real training, dignity and a second chance for a real person. You can give here.
How does the gift card work?
After purchase, a unique gift card code is emailed to the recipient (or to you, to forward). It can be redeemed in-store, never expires, and makes a meaningful corporate or personal gift.
Is your coffee halal?
Our coffee beans are 100% plant-based. RAMU, our halal café concept at 45 Maxwell Road, is pursuing MUIS Halal certification.
