2 Timothy 2:1–13
KJV — “Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.”
NASB95 — “For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.”
ESV — “Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.”
Some days the ministry feels like distraction stacked on distraction. Counselling the boys, guiding a Restarter through a hard shift, sitting with partners over Gateway’s fit-out, chasing funding, moving, renovating — I lose focus and forget why I began. Paul wrote his last words from a Roman cell, chained, awaiting execution, yet he insisted the gospel could not be chained. His body was bound; his purpose was free. My distractions are not my calling — enduring for the sake of the ones He is rescuing is. When my own strength runs dry, His power is made perfect in weakness. I am not the rescuer. I am simply the one who does not put down the chain.
Father, when my days scatter into a hundred small burdens, gather my heart back to You. Let me endure not for my own name, but so that the ones You are drawing may yet find Christ. Be strong where I am weak. Amen.
